Coach Jennifer Lyman:  Head Swim Coach

Jennifer Lyman returns to the Woodbridge Club for her third season. Jen has provided outstanding leadership in both coaching and teaching. Under her supervision the team experienced explosive growth and a new dedication to improvement. She is an enthusiastic and respected coach/instructor who works well with all levels of swimming. Jen is a professional who is ready and willing to continue the outstanding tradition of excellence in instruction that has been the trademark of the Woodbridge Club. In addition to her coaching, Jen instructs classes and offers competitive clinics, and private lessons.

Currently Jennifer Lyman is working full time as a Swim Coach for numerous local teams. She also is the Head Coach of the Daniel Hand of Madison Girls High School swim team.

Jen has been involved in USS, high school and collegiate levels of swimming and coaching. She started her coaching career where she began competitive swimming in East Haven and was Head Coach of the East Haven Big Blues, as well as, the Head Coach of East Haven/North Branford CO-OP Boy's High School swim team. Jen later moved on to Southern Connecticut State University where she wore numerous hats as assistant coach and administrator for the collegiate Men and Women's Swim Team. She was also at this time the Age Group coach and administrative assistant for SONOCO Swim Club, which was located at SCSU.

In addition to her coaching Jen also serves as a member of several professional swimming groups. She is Co-Coordinator for CT Swimming Camps, and has run nine camps serving over 500 Connecticut registered swimmers. Jen is also a board member of the CT Age Group Committee since 2005 and Coaches Committee since 2006.

Jen is looking forward to the summer of 2011 at the Woodbridge Club which has the finest outdoor pool facility in the Greater New Haven area. She said "summer clubs like the Woodbridge Club are the places where kids get their first exposure to competitive swimming and she hopes to make it a fun learning experience".

Jen will also be working with Assistant Club Director Jeff Syrop as a swimming instructor and clinician. One of her goals is to get more adults involved in swimming by starting an early morning masters and lap swim program. Jen and Jeff will have more information about our swimming programs in the near future.

Coach Jeff Syrop: Dive/Assistant Swim Coach

Jeff Syrop -  CoachJeff Syrop has more than 20 years of coaching experience at all levels and currently is a middle school Physical Education teacher in the town of Fairfield where he has worked for many years. He has been the Assistant Director and Diving Coach at the Woodbridge Club for 6 years.

Jeff started diving at age 11 at Paradise Club in Hamden, where he grew up. Jeff continued diving at Hamden High School where he set a school record that stood for 20 years, and he finished top ten in the state 2 years in a row. Jeff went on to dive at the University of Connecticut. Jeff also coached diving at Amity High School for 7 years.

In addition to his coaching duties, Jeff serves in a supervisory position as Assistant Director of the Woodbridge Club. He is primarily responsible for organizing most pool area special activities and swim classes. He is in charge and instructs all classes and offers private and semiprivate swimming and diving instruction.

Jeff is a resident of Orange with his wife Kim, and 4 children Jordan, Gabrielle, Halle and Sam.
